IL PROGETTO DEL FLUSSO

Il punto di partenza è stato trovato in Baluchistan - una terra di frontiera (tra Medio Oriente e India, ma anche, “pianeta dei naufraghi”, tra Oriente e Occidente); si è poi scoperto che in un altro luogo, lontano, la Catalogna, esisteva un sistema simile di regolamentazione.
La regolamentazione è quella dell’acqua per l’irrigazione - bene prezioso in quei luoghi.
In un altro luogo, naturalmente terra di fromtiera anch’esso, il sistema di regolamentazione è utilizzato, variandone “metaforicamente” le caratteristiche, per la distribuzione di un bene diverso, altrettanto prezioso - forse.

La metafora, le metafore si moltiplicano, dunque.
Il “bene prezioso” distribuito in questa ulteriore terra di fromtiera, che è Topolo’, non è piu’ acqua, sebbene lo sia ancora “tecnicamente” (si tratta di una registrazione, effettuata proprio a Topolo’, della cannella dell’acqua all’ingresso del paese, elaborata elettronicamente - la cannella dell’acqua, come ancora le mani che, secondo regole temporali definite, appaiono sullo schermo del computer, due “segni” del luogo - vero e proprio soundmark il primo, elemento del vissuto, anzi, di più: del vivente, il secondo) non è più acqua, dunque, ma flusso di materiali la cui attribuzione di senso (la cui “esteticità”) è compito di colui che ne farà uso - dunque anche operando un’inversione dei ruoli “classici” del fatto estetico (“artista” e “fruitore”).

Sempre "tecnicamente", il flusso è articolato sulle 24 ore - unità di misura non arbitraria ma alla base delle regolamentazioni Baluchi e Catalana. La quantità di flusso è distribuita, con un siatema di prenotazioni a richiesta (dunque dipendente dalle "necessità" del singolo fruitore), su base temporale (così come appunto le unità di misura dell'acqua, l'hangam in Baluchistan o la regadora in Catalogna "non corrispondono ad una quantità fissa di acqua, ma allo scorrere di quest'ultima nel canale per un periodo di dodici ore").

Il mezzo utilizzato, infine: internet. Flusso di flussi, che pone ulteriori domande - se media o messaggio, naturalmente, ma soprattutto se e quanto “democratico”: In Baluchistan, ad esempio, esiste una sorta di divisione in strati sociali, mentre in Catalogna viene garantita la parità fra tutti nell'accedere al flusso acqueo ed é soltanto la quantità di terreno (il bisogno) a determinarne il tempo di fruizione.

THE FLOW PROJECT

The starting point was found in Baluchistan - a borderland (between the Middle East and India, but also, “shipwrecked’s planet”, between East and West), then it was discovered that in another distant place, Catalogna, there was a similar rule system.
The system is that of the irrigation of water - a treasure in those places.
In another place, of course another borderland, the rule system is used, in a “metaphoric” variation of its characteristics, for the distribution of a different treasure - may be.

The metaphor, metaphors are growing up.
The “treasure” distributed in this other borderland, that is, Topolo’, is no more water, even if it’s such from a technical point of view (it’s a recording, made in Topolo’, of the little fountain at the entrance of the village, electronically modified - the fountain, like the hands that, after defined time rules, are on the computer screen, two “signs” of the place - a true soundmark the first, element of life, of existence the second) is no more water, but the flow of materials whose attribution of meaning (whose being “aesthetic”) is the job of the person that will use it - so with a“classic” inversion of roles of the aesthetic thing (“the artist” and “the public”).

“Technically” the flow is based on 24 hours - not an arbitrary unity but at the basis of the rules in Baluchistan and Catalogna. The quantity of flow is distributed, with a booking system (so depending on the individual’s “needs”), time-based (as the time units of water, the hangam in Baluchistan or the regadora in Catalogna “are not corresponding to a fix quantity of water, but the flow of water into the canal during a 12 hours period”).

At the end the used medium: the Internet. Flow of flows, it poses other questions - if the medium is the message, of course, but above all if and how “democratic”: in Baluchistan, for example, there’s something like a distribution in social layers, while in Catalogna everybody is equal in benefit of the water’s flow and only the quantity of ground (the need) is determining the benefit by the flow.
